Anybody out there? Am i out there? Where am i? Well, for the 3 of you still reading this, thought i'd be remiss if i didn't get a 2007 recap. Okay, we'll, how about two videos? First one back in march with the moog boys tearing up an anonymous nyc sports bar with their very special version of Nirvana. Second from a few weeks back in SF, where a was for a very short time on the occasion of Michael's 30th. He's opening a motherfucking Nebuchadnezzar of champagne. Damn.

But, hey, at least that means good things are happening...

First shout: holy shit my friend from way back to 7th grade, Toho, is gonna be on jeopardy! We tried out for that show together some 10 years ago, he passed the exam and i didn't. (why i just didn't copy off his exam i'm not sure) Toho let me know when your bit drops. And, um, win, okay?

Second shout: the moog boys are in Spin. You go boys! It seems like such a short time ago tonyo and i were arm wrestling and scheming in some lolli basement party about how to ratchet up their trajectory. I think they've successfully ratcheted.

More Remindering/More Shouting

The shouting part first: the december/january Nylon magazine issue has a write-up on budapest, including a photo of Dorka! Hooray dorka! I'd include a cap of the photo but unable to find online yet, if someone is in a city where it's sold, maybe you could pick one up and scan a shot? And, Przemyslaw, if you're reading, was great to meet ya and we'll definitely go for drinks in NY shortly.

Also shouting: Sonni, wife of Jeff (who was in budapest visiting me last new year's) and old mate of Gene's, as well as friend of mine, recently gave birth to a healthy baby! woohoo! And before she popped, she was bodypainted and put up on a huge billboard in Times Square!

Crazy huh?

I was just given the master copy of Moog's new cd and shit is hot boys! Perfect garage pop. Four months till official drop date and i'll be spinning it plenty before then.

And place number one where i'll be spinning it is at Heartbeats in Prague this friday! Those who are traveling up with me of course already know about the gig, and if anyone in czech land is reading this, come out to club nebe!

I just haven't been inspired to photograph anything of late (save a trip to the flea market which you will see shortly), though when damian (from heartbeats playing a gig here) was here a couple weeks ago we managed this:

And finally, apropos of nothing, but last monday in budapest was a bit of a thrill ride, literally. Like when the Soviet tank put out for the 1956 commemoration was left open and with gas in the tank. Like when drunk dudes climbed in. And started it. And DROVE it. Ha.

In between getting quite the laugh on what that certain ex-congressman was writing to his interns ('you need a massage' LOL), the busy dial has actually been turned on full of late.

Have Glasses Will Travel OR Pep Magazine Reads Blogs, Too

Funny conversation I had with my friend Anita in gumi on friday:
"Hey, so why did you send that pic to Pep to use in their story on gumipop?"
"What story? What pic?"
"It's the one you took of Dora and I wearing glasses. I don't like how i look."
"Oh, well i remember taking the photo but i didn't know what is this story or why they would use it... no one contacted me about it"
"Oh, well there is a story on gumipop and a big pic of me for it"
"Ah, okay well i don't know what to say, i knew nothing about it. Is there a copy of the magazine somewhere?"
"I think so"
-- 30 second pause --
"So, why did you send that photo to Pep because i look bad..."

Having not sent a pic anywhere, at this point i just had to smile and realized it was time to investigate. And holy shit i'll be damned if there it is as the lead story pic, one of my shots taken of Anita and Dora! What can i say Anita now being post-facto there's not much i can do. If it's any consolation the story they did with me is all in Hungarian so i can only half-understand what quotes are being attributed ;)

However this story brings to mind another story. A couple years ago old friend Marc's dad passed away. Marc's dad, Ed, was a very very small chinese man who owned a very very large pair of Italian sunglasses made in the 1970s. On my last visit to SF i asked i could borrow them long term. Marc said okay, and since that time i realized they've covered a lot of miles! (and were in the photo which was used in the Pep story, worn by Dora) So, Marc, a little collage on where your late Dad's sunnies have ended up...

And i retardedly forgot to take them on a few trips otherwise there would be more. No worries, though, soon enough. Let's just consider them our version of the gnome from Amelie. :)
