Quick hop thru tokyo on the way to bangkok -
Mar 6-9, 2006

Salarymen salarymen salarymen salarymen....

the requisite shibuya crossing shot...

biding time before meeting with ...

Sir Alex!. Incidently, i should mention that Alex has quite possibly,
the coolest motherfucking job on the face of the planet. (well, at least
if you were a kinda geeky kid like me growing up in the US in the 1980s).
He designs Transformers. You know, autobots, decepticons, Optimus Prime,
Megatron, that whole bit. Yes they still exist, there will be a new movie,
and they are looking badass as ever, and my photos of his prototype sketches
will never see the light of day. So much drool i must've left throughout
his flat looking at those sketches.

A bit later some catch-up time with Martin!
Hiya boy and congrats on baby #2!

Alex, yuki, and I

A few moments for the pimp view from Alex's 11th floor pad before skipping
town to ...
bangkok baby! I'd be looking out my tuk tuk as well if i know i would
have to sit in this town's traffic mess for hours on end. insane.

Was so tired my first night in bangkok didn't do much more than get a
beer, some noodles, and sleep.

The next day however ... hit the streets for a looooong walk...

Seriously digging the T-pop album covers!

Which was right next door to a coffin shop??

Which was right next door to a barber shop chair store?? I loved this
street.

A few minutes after getting giggles over the 'space for monks' sign on
the river ferry

a few minutes later literally a dozen monks get on board. you go bad boys!

and my god i stumble upon UC-Santa Cruz extension campus, Bangkok er....
hippy park!

And right about now meet up with the Jordan Sitkin himself, who is in
the midst of some year+ long wild world jaunt.

plastic chairs and beers

Just in case you forgot you were in thailand...

We had a night to wander around the khao san area... and stumbled up on
some rocking live band bar with two floors. Got some beers and were immediately
befriended by a cast of characters.... went spent the next couple hours
hopping around to songs we didn't know and didn't care that we didn't
know. Was an effin blast.

Jordan, seriously i know you were only having a so-so night but could
you have at least *tried* to look like you were have a good time? Really,
geez. ;)

Crazy cool indie thai boys and the tongues that love them

It was very happy happy joy joy

At 1am however, all the bars/clubs close so these 'carpet bars' open up.
You buy a beer out of the back of a van and literally sit on the street
to drink. Kinda cool in its own way...

Gotta love the johnny walker building ad: "drink, don't drive".
Well, i suppose that's one way of dealing with the problem...
