I Was Just Font'n

I'm a closet typography whore. So it's heartening/saddening to see Microsoft pick up a creation of the font guru himself, Lucas de Groot, to serve as their next default font in Word 2007. Calibri, it's called, and upon first inspection I was surprised how close it looked to good 'ole Officina Sans Office. Sure enough--no surprise at all--it's a de Groot. Officina Sans was a design office standard in the mid-90s, and now I guess its little step child is set to become the world standard.

As for my personal font playground, I still swear by DaFont, that site rocks so hard--at least to the extent that font websites can indeed rock.
